Thus, the present work extends and combines the concept of structural constraint satisfaction problems with the use of local search and global constraints.

Applying Local Search to Temporal Reasoning
Local search techniques have attracted considerable interest in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) community since the development of GSAT [9] and the min-conflicts heuristic [5] for solving large propositional satisfiability (SAT) problems and binary Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs) respectively. Newer SAT techniques, such as the Discrete Langrangian Method (DLM) [10], have significantly ...
متن کاملA Decomposition Technique for CSPs Using Maximal Independent Sets and Its Integration with Local Search
We introduce INDSET, a technique for decomposing a Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP) by identifying a maximal independent set in the constraint graph of the CSP. We argue that this technique reduces the complexity of solving the CSP exponentially by the size of the maximal independent set, and yields compact and robust solutions. We discuss how to integrate this decomposition technique with...
متن کاملConstraint Weighting Local Search for Constraint Satisfaction
One of the challenges for the constraint satisfaction community has been to develop an automated approach to solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs) rather than creating specific algorithms for specific problems. Much of this work has concentrated on the development and improvement of general purpose backtracking techniques. However, the success of relatively simple local search techniq...
متن کامل1 Guided Local Search Applied to the Sat Problem
Guided Local Search (GLS) has been shown to be successful in solving a number of practical real life problems, such as the travelling salesman problem, radio link frequency assignment problem and the vehicle routing problem. GLS is a penalty-based metaheuristic, which works by augmenting the objective function of a local search algorithm with penalties, to help guide them out of local minima. O...
متن کاملPerformance of a Comprehensive and Efficient Constraint Library Based on Local Search
Constraint satisfaction is one of the major areas in AI that has important real-life applications. Lee et al. propose E-GENET, a stochastic solver for general constraint solving based on iterative repair. Performance figures show that E-GENET compares favorably against tree-search based solvers in many hard problems. On the other hand, global constraints have been shown to be very effective in ...
